The Importance of Web Standards & Jeffrey Zeldman

BusinessWeek have just published an article on one of the most influential web professionals in the history of the Internet – Jeffrey Zeldman: King of Web Standards.

This article is well worth a read for developers who need to convince their bosses or clients the benefits of web standards, or anyone just interested in a bit of history of the ‘net – It’s certainly been well researched.

When I first started at Kyan I was handed Zeldman’s Design with Web Standards book and I have to say it was an excellent read. I’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn the best practices of building web sites and have no doubts it still holds up today.

This web design standards article is great. I recommend it to any agency who builds websites.

Now that our new site is live, I can finally talk about development decisions we made. The site last had a makeover in mid-2008 so what we can do has moved on quite considerably, and we’ve tried to take advantage of that where possible.
