WXG reaches critical mass

Since we announced WXG – Web Expo Guildford – in May we’ve been working hard to create an amazing roster of speakers for our first one day conference.

Our criteria has been to invite people we want to listen to and we’ve been blown away by the response.

We’re up to 8 speakers now, covering Illustration, Startups, Strategic UX, APIs, HTML gaming, Typography, Agile development and Open Source communities. Hint: head over to webexpoguildford.co.uk for the full details and to snap up early bird tickets!

One of the things we’ve been reminded of in organising WXG is the power of asking – politely, honestly and confidently – for what you want. So, for example, when we invited Pivotal Labs – who are only US-based – to come over and speak, we didn’t ‘expect’ them to accept. But we were able to talk authentically about how we use Pivotal and Agile methods and how we respect their work. And Dan Podsedly at Pivotal responded by saying “let’s do it” and building a UK trip that includes us. Nice guy.

We could say similar things about all our speakers, but we hope you’ll come and spend a day with us on October 12th and we can tell you in person.

In the meantime, back to our day jobs…

Alright pop pickers? Not ’arf! Well, it’s that time of year again, best of 2008 lists abound so I thought I’d put together some of the top tracks to be rocking the Kyan jukebox from this year’s releases and now that Saint John no longer graces our airwave…
