How long does a project usually take?

It depends on what you need, but typically a well-considered website or app will take around twelve to sixteen weeks for an MVP. Some projects extend and we have some clients who have successful products that we have been developing for over ten years. Equally, a discrete Proof of Concept may take one month.

How do you kick things off?

By getting everyone in the room, ideally in person (although not always possible), in a kick-off workshop where we build consensus and relationships and agree the priorities. We have tried and tested workshop formats that help us extract and discuss what is important to the business and your customers.

Can you support us after the launch?

All successful digital products require ongoing TLC so the answer is yes. Some clients have monthly retainers which allow us to keep software updated and secure and others have retained team models where we continue to build out new features and develop their roadmaps. In some cases we even help our clients to build their own in-house teams and support them throughout the recruitment process.

We like to think of ourselves as tech-agnostic, and are firm believers in the right tool for the right job. We subscribe to a composable architecture point of view, and we also have our preferences. We love Ruby on Rails, as a framework that allows us to build out backends quickly and efficiently. We also favour the javascript framework React, but also feel at home in other languages. With AI coding assistants, we have found that an experienced software engineer is able to work with most modern languages.

We have tools to help you understand what's important for your product, and with over 20 years experience in building digital solutions, we can provide guidance on budgeting.

One of the advantages of working with an agency like Kyan is that we have all the disciplines needed to deliver a successful product, all working under one roof. A typical project team would be made up of a Product Manager, a UX/Product Designer, a Front-end Engineer, a Back-end Engineer and a QA Engineer, all used to working closely together.
